Former Super Eagles midfielder, Garba Lawal has said the team need to be battle ready to face the top teams of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations starting in June.
Speaking ahead of today’s draws in Egypt, Lawal submitted that the Super Eagles are favourites, but they must have to prepare adequately to meet up the expected challenge from top rated countries like hosts Egypt, Senegal and Morocco.
“We have to be ready to face strong teams whether it is Senegal or Egypt,”
“We must not be afraid to play any team, Egypt, for instance, may have Mohamed Salah but we also have Ahmed Musa and other good players in our team.
“The way we prepare that is how they prepare too. If you want to be the best, you have to be prepared to beat strong teams.
“If you are in a weaker group you can still be gone in the group stage. So the most important thing is to prepare well”
“All our players play week-in-week-out. We just have to believe that we will do well and win the tournament.”
The Super Eagles were clear winners of the group E qualifiers with a match to spare and fans are hoping that they carry that form on to the tournament, where they will hoping to their fourth title.
