YENAGOA- THE Bayelsa Police Command says it has rescued an eight years old girl from kidnappers in Yenagoa, the state capital. The victim identified as Miss Dora Diekedie Dizeani was reportedly kidnapped in her mother’s residence by two masked gunmen.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Asinim Butswatt said: “On 20 March 2019 at about 2010 hours, two masked gunmen operating on a motorcycle, went to the residence of one Mrs. Amara Diekedie ‘f’ 40 years and kidnapped her daughter one Dora Diekedie Dizeani ‘f’ 8-year-old. The command control room was alerted and responded swiftly.
“The kidnappers were pursued and one of them was gunned down. The eight years old victim was rescued safety. Upon a thorough search of the surrounding premises two unserviceable locally fabricated AK47 riffle were recovered and one other suspect was arrested.
“The Bayelsa State Police Command wishes to reiterate its commitment to fighting crime and all form of criminality in the State. Despite daring attempts by hoodlums to disrupt the peace of Yenagoa metropolis, the command has been able to confront these criminals head-on.”
