Ondo Govt to immortalise late Olusegun Agagu

SIX years after his death, the fourth democratically elected governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Agagu is to be immortalised by the state government.

The late Agagu died on September 13, 2013, in Lagos.

Before his death, he established the state-owned University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa, OSUSTECH nine years ago.

To immortalise him, the incumbent, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has announced that the institution would be named after him.

Akeredolu made the announcement during a thank you visit Okitipupa Council Area of the state.

Addressing traditional rulers, chiefs and party members, the governor said his administration will make “determined effort to name the institution after the former governor.

He asked the people to appeal to the newly elected members of the State House of Assembly to hasten the legislative processes necessary to change the name of the university.

He noted that on assumption of office, he was not pleased with the way the university was abandoned.

Earlier, the Governor while addressing the people and monarchs of Ile-Oluji and Oke-Igbo, said his administration will continue with the good works it started in the local government.

Akeredolu urged them to put forward a memorandum for the creation of a new local council development authority, which he said will fast-track development.

At Ore in Odigbo Local Government Area, Akeredolu said the commercial town has become the hub of business in the state, particularly with the construction of the flyover and the industrial park.
