lagos—Former Minister for Defence and Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Chief Demola Seriki, has described the governorship candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP,in Saturday’s governorship election, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, as a ‘perennial runner’ that needs encouragement to look for a successor for his party.

Fielding questions from newsmen following Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Oluwo declaration as winner of the governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Seriki said Sanwo-Olu won with 78 per cent, while Jimi Agbaje had 22 percent of the votes.
His words: “He needs to be encouraged to look for a successor for his party, as he is perennial runner but I am sure he won’t run again. Although, there was low turnout everywhere but what surprised me was that we ballooned the figure as Sanwo-Olu scored 78 per cent of votes while the PDP candidate Jimi Agbaje scored 22 per cent. I didn’t expect that. I was hoping he (Agbaje) would score about 35-50 per cent. So it means everything they are talking about PDP means they are just kidding.”
APC lauds people, residents of Lagos for continued support
“The voting apathy affected Presidential elections, but didn’t affect the governorship because of the E-voting. The e-voting has been able to prevent lot of manipulation . so it is goodbye to rigging days.”
Responding, the PDP governorship party agent Tajudeen Agoro present at the collation centre said:” By my own assessment, and reports from other local governments, the elections is obviously short of credibility. So the acceptance of the result would be at the purview of my principal and the party. As I don’t like throwing away the baby with the bath water, but I believe INEC can do better. Also, If we want to be serious about election in Nigeria, then credibility should be seriously at stake.”
