INEC commences movement of sensitive materials in Plateau today

Jos – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will today commence the movement of sensitive materials for this weekend’s supplementary elections in Plateau State it said.

Head of Department, Voter Education and Publicity INEC office in Plateau State, Osaretin Imahiyereobo, who disclosed the logistics arrangements for the election said: “Distribution of Sensitive Materials to LGAs at the CBN will be on March 21, movement of Corps Members to LGAs, March 21, batching of Sensitive and Non-Sensitive Materials from LGAs to RACs, March 21, movement of men, materials and securities to the RACs and refresher training at the RACs, March 22.”

The supplementary election in 40 Polling Units in nine Local Government Areas of Plateau State is to determine the winner of the governorship seat in the State.

The commission would also conduct a rerun for the Langtang South State Constituency to get the Member who would represent the Constituency in the State House of Assembly.

Results from the affected areas were declared inconclusive following the outcome of the March 9, 2019 Governorship/House of Assembly elections. The rerun is set for Saturday, March 23, 2019.
