ABUJA-A Professor of Mass Communications with University of Abuja, Kwaghkondo Agber has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that political appointments in his second term will reflect the geopolitical spread of the country.

He said that spreading the offices evenly would be the only way to calm some frayed nerves, heal wounds and reunite the country which seemed heavily divided along ethnic-religious lines before the February 23, 2019 presidential and national assembly elections.

It will be recalled that President Buhari who participated in the election as the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC was declared the winner of the polls by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Speaking to Vanguard in the light of the reelection in Abuja on Friday, Professor who was also a former Head of Department of the Theatre Arts in the Faculty of Arts of the University added that outside the trio of his campaign promises of improving the economy, fighting insecurity and corruption which the president focused on his first term, the President should also prioritize railway development as a pivot for industrialization and improve the healthcare system to discourage medical tourisms.

I’ll work harder this time – Buhari

Other areas of agenda setting outlined for the president in his second term included building of roads infrastructure, power and evolving healthy economic policies to better the lot of the citizenry.

Agber also charged the president to reduce the high rate of unemployment and tackle head-on, the incessant farmers/herdsmen clashes in Benue State amongst others.

“The President said he focussed on 3 things in his first term – the economy, security and fight against corruption. He should use his 2nd term to consolidate these. In addition, he should prioritise railway development as a pivot for industrialization.

“He should improve the healthcare system to minimise health tourism. There is a need to fix infrastructure, roads, electricity and railways. He should unite the country and heal the wounds of country through appointments across the country. His government should pay attention to economic policies that will ensure rapid industrialization.

“This will help reduce unemployment. Security especially the killings across the country. He should help stop the herders attacks on communities in central Nigeria”, Agber said
