Senator-elect for Benue North East, Mr Gabriel Suswam, has urged Senator George Akume not to be a bad loser but accept his defeat at the last National Assembly elections in good faith and in the interest of peace.

Suswam, a former governor of Benue State, spoke yesterday, after some youths suspected to be members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) destroyed Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, campaign billboards and looted property in Makurdi in the name of celebrating President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election.
Senate 2019: Orji Kalu says his popularity will give him victory
“That was madness of the highest degree which was capable of overheating the polity as well as creating an uncontrollable spate of violence in a state that had experienced series of attacks and killings by herdsmen in recent times”, he said.
He appealed to Akume, also a former governor of Benue, to note the violence and speak in favour of peace.
Suswan equally appealed to losers in the election not to take the law into their hands but rather seek redress in court just as he advised winners of the elections to be magnanimous in victory.
The senator-elect pointed out that in 2015 he contested for the Benue North East senatorial seat as incumbent governor and lost but kept his peace.
