By Ikechukwu Odu

Nsukka—An Enugu Chief Magistrate has threatened to try the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, for Uzo Uwani Local Government Area, Mr Simon Akor for contempt of  court over alleged failure to arrest and bring a rapist to his court for trial as ordered.

Chief Magistrate Malachy Ifeanyi Mamah, made the threat at Uzo Uwani weekend, following the failure of the police to arrest and bring one Christopher Ezeugwu and his sureties for trial in court since July last year.

Ezeugwu, 18, from Ugwuenechi village, Umuobira in Nkpologu, Uzo Uwani was accused of raping an 11 year old girl (name withheld) in the area at about 2pm on July 11, 2018 and in the process, caused damage to her urinary tract.
