BENIN—AHEAD of the governorship/state House of Assembly elections,  Edo State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, yesterday, received some defectors from Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Esan South- East Local Government Area of the state.

March 9 election ‘ll finally bury Saraki’s political dynasty, says Ashiru

Receiving the defectors at the party’s secretariat in Benin City, state Chairman of the party, Mr. Anselm Ojezua, said the decision of the defectors was timely, as the party was working for a decisive victory for all its candidates in the state.

He said that APC in Edo State needed formidable representations at the state House of Assembly to support Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration’s achievements.

On the calibre of defectors coming into the party, Ojezua said: “Illushi is very important in Esan South-East because of its strong political base and agrarian nature.

“I believe receiving leaders from that locality will make the March 9 election easy for us.”

The state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Ms Magdalene Ohenhen, and Chairman, South-East council, Mr. Victor Emuakhagbon, who were at the APC secretariat, assured that the party will emerge victorious in the area.

Ohenhen said: “For us in Esan South-East, we are happy because we now have a stronger team that will work towards ensuring victory for APC in the March 9 election.

“We had issues at Illushi during the presidential and National Assembly elections, but we are happy they have come to join us today.”
