Some hours to the gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections, chances of the All Progressives Congress candidate, Chief Adebayo Adelabu to win were brighter Friday as the incumbent governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi wooed members of Accord, the former party of
Senator Rashidi Ladoja to cast their votes for him.

This was contained in a statement jointly signed by the National Secretary of Accord, Dr Adebukola Ajaja and Mr Muda Ogunsola.

In the statement, the leadership of the party commended Governor Ajimobi for his efforts in the alliance with APC.

“The party also recognized the leadersip role of the state Governor, Senator Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi as the leader of the party only in facilitating and providing a conducive working relationship towards the alliance”, they said.

The decision to vote Chief Adelabu as the party’s gubernatorial candidate was made after some stakeholders of Accord had a meeting with Dr Adebukola Ajaja, the National Secretary of the party.

Ajaja, who clarified it that Accord is still intact as a political party said, “due to the present political situation, we realized we might not be able to achieve our quest to give Oyo State good governance hence, the need to have a workable alliance with Chief Bayo
Adelabu the governorship candidate of APC in the Saturday March 9, 2019 election.

According to her, the leadership of the party have the consent of its 33 local government executives and members to work in alliance for the victory of Chief Bayo Adelabu the governorship candidate of APC.

“The party also recognized the leadership of Accord after evaluating the two major contenders in Saturday’s governorship election opt for Chief Adelabu as the most intelligent and credible candidate that can take Oyo State to height of development in the next four years.

Hence, our decision to work for the progress of the state at a time like this.” “People of Oyo State should know that Accord is still in existence as a political party in the state, but we need to form alliance with a formidable political party with good intention for a reality of proper development rather than allow the looters to still have the advantage
of our votes to inlict the suffering and political injuries on Oyo State again”, the party stated.
