UYO—Akwa Ibom State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, has rejected the outcome of Saturday’s governorship and state House of Assembly polls won by Governor Udom Emmanuel and other candidates of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

APC
Addressing newsmen in Uyo, yesterday, state Chairman of APC, Ini Okopido, described the result of the election in the state as a daylight robbery, as most of the results as announced by the electoral umpire were doctored figures.
Okopido also accused the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mike Igini, of aiding and abetting PDP by cooking up figures to rig out his party.
He also called on APC supporters to remain calm, as the party had resolved to “retrieve the victory they gave to APC through every legitimate means’.
He said: “Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in the state on March 10, committed the most embarrassing electoral fraud ever conceived since the return to democratic rule in Nigeria by announcing concocted and spurious results of the governorship and state House of Assembly elections.
“INEC in collusion with PDP committed an electoral coup against the people of Akwa Ibom by publishing and announcing such result that has no bearing with the result as counted
“Therefore, our party rejects the sham and fictitious result as announced by INEC in Akwa Ibom State, as it was contrived, manipulated and concocted to suit the unholy alliances between the commission and the PDP.
“We rather insist on the result of the elections from the field, which gave our party an overwhelming victory in 26 local government areas.”
PDP reacts
Reacting, state Chairman, PDP, Paul Ekpo, said: “The results, as announced, are clear reflection of the wishes and desire of our people.
“The people spoke loudly, unrelentingly reposing their confidence in our party and electing the governor and other candidates of our party to the national and state legislatures.
“This renewed term will continually witness the delivery of democracy dividends in varied sectors of the economy. Udom Emmanuel is the best fillip for Project Akwa Ibom.”
