The quick intervention of operatives of the Niger State Police Command saved a seven-year-old girl from being raped by a 29-year-old man, Garba Yakubu, last week opposite the Central Mosque, Kuta Road, Minna, the state capital.
It was gathered that the suspect lured his victim into his kitchen, tore her pant and was about having sex with her when the girl’s uncle, Abbas, met them in the act.
An eyewitness disclosed that the victim’s uncle met her lying naked on the floor of the kitchen, where she narrated how the suspect attempted to have sex with her.

One Mairo Ma’agi of the same address, it was further gathered, reported to the state Police Command.
The state Police Command, it was gathered, swung into action and immediately arrested the suspect.
Contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar, said the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation, adding that he has been charged to court.
