The Chairman of People’s Democratic Party,PDP, Campaign Council, Delta Central chapter, Olorogun Fred Okiemute Majemite has asserted that Urhobo vote for Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in the forthcoming general elections is a vote for Urhobo governor in 2023.
He made the assertion in an exclusive media chat with our correspondent at his Ughelli residence last weekend, while reacting to the pact between Governor Okowa and Ukoko R’ Ivie ( Urhobo Traditional Rulers Council) on Urhobos dream of producing the governor of the state in 2023 at the palace of the Ohworode (traditional ruler) of Olomu Kingdom recently .
Majemite who is also the coordinator of ‘ Team Majemite For Okowa ‘ 2019 remarked that Governor Okowa is a man of his words and as such he is very optimistic that he will keep to the pact “. That is why he is often called ‘Ekwueme. ‘ So an Urhobo vote for Okowa in the forthcoming governorship elections is a vote for Urhobo governor in 2023.
” It is left for the Urhobo to keep to their part of the agreement by voting for him massively in the governorship election. We should not be in a hurry. 2023 is just by the corner. We must shun the politics of ethnicity by voting massively for him so that he will also support us in producing the governor in 2023″
He stated that Governor Okowa has done enough for the Urhobo in terms of appointments and infrastructural developments to deserve their support, saying that one good turn deserves another.
Majemite in the media chat also commended the Urhobo traditional rulers for their prayers and warm reception for the governor at the meeting.
The PDP chieftain who also spoke on Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, postponement of dates of the general elections took a swipe at the body for its decision, telling INEC to know that the whole world is watching. So they should conduct free, fair and credible elections” He, however, urged the electorate not to be deterred by the shift of dates of the elections but should rather vote en mass and defend their votes for the PDP. For PDP is their only hope of salvation “.
