Police nab 950 alleged political thugs in Kano

KANO — Kano State Police Command has arrested no fewer than 950 political thugs across the state in a mop up operation against thuggery in the state.


Speaking to Vanguard, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Wakili Muhammad, said: “The command has so far apprehended no fewer than 950 suspected political thugs, locally referred to as Yan Daba, for allegedly attacking residents of Kano metropolis within the last nine days.”

Mohammed said most of the suspects were arrested in different parts of the city for attacking residents with dangerous weapons as many of them were also caught with suspected illicit drugs.

According to him, of the number, 750 had been remanded in prisons pending the completion of their trial by the courts as they were already being prosecuted

He warned parents to look after their children as his command would  not take it easy with anyone trying to disrupt peace or intimidate the public in the guise of political thuggery.
