THE Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Olomoro ward 6 of Isoko South local government area of Delta State, has debunked media reports that the party’s candidate for Delta South senatorial district, Senator James Manager, was booed during his consultative visit to Chief George Idodo Umeh at Olomoro.
The party making their position known in a statement by its chairman, Chris Olomu and the youth leader, Godspower Abada, described the report which was published in an online news site as “false illusory and baseless.”
The statement reads, “Ordinarily, we wouldn’t have dignified such infantile vituperation with a response, but to put the records in proper perspective.
“The story is false and it is most definitely sponsored by some well known desperate opposition politicians in the area.
“The peddlers of this baseless news item has obviously refused to come to terms with senator manager’s towering status and ever growing political traction in the senatorial district in particular and delta in general”.
“Rather than focus on campaign issues, they (the opposition ) have resorted to campaign of calumny, character assassination and hate speech. indeed there are acceptable limits to propaganda.
“It is noteworthy to state here that defeat is imminent for the opposition in Saturday’s general elections and hence they are trying to cause disaffection within our ranks but they have failed.
“We will also like to advise media organisations, especially those that are seen as credible sources of information for the public, to always confirm their stories before publishing, to avoid misleading their readers.
“We urge the general public to disregard the paid news item for nothing could be further from the truth.”
