Awka—WORRIED by the increasing rate of herdsmen/farmers’ clashes in parts of the country, the Association of Christian Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, AOCTRON, and the leadership of Meyitti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, have resolved to find ways to end the crisis.
At its annual general meeting at Igbariam, in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State, the association, through its national chairman and traditional ruler of Igbariam, Eze Nkeli Kelly said the association would no longer watch while lives and property were lost in the country through avoidable herdsmen /farmers clash.
While appreciating the Federal Government’s promise to Nigerians and the international community of free, fair and credible election on February 23, the association reminded Nigerians that there was nothing to gain through violence.
“We advise all Monarchs to educate the youths and all their subjects to be law abiding and shun any form of violence during the forthcoming general elections,” the association said in a statement signed by Eze Kelly and the secretary, His Royal Majesty, King Winston Ogoun.
The statement assured that members of AOCTRON would always support the peace process as the main solution to the country’s problem.
