MASSOB was reacting to the attack on Ndigbo at polling units during the Presidential and National Assembly elections last Saturday.

The group spokesman, Samuel Edeson in a statement in Enugu, Monday, blamed the attack on Mr. Bola Tinubu of Lagos state.

MASSOB in condemning the attack on Ndigbo in Lagos said “It is very unfortunate that the people we taught that share the same political predicament with Ndigbo in Nigeria has turned against our people in Lagos.

“MASSOB blame this politically and tribally sponsored attack on Ndigbo in Lagos on Bola Tinubu and his APC political thugs. MASSOB reminds Ndigbo in Lagos to be vigilant and defend themselves with every material resource available to them.”

Edeson also noted that the order by the leader of Odua Peoples Congress, OPC, in Oshodi area that all the shops owned by Ndigbo must remain closed was a clear attempt to intimidate Igbo traders in Oshodi and other areas of Lagos state.

He said that eventhough the leadership of  the Afenifere had condemned the attack  on Ndigbo, yet the attack was still going on without their intervention.

“MASSOB has never disrupted any Yoruba person or attack their business in Biafra land. We shall no longer allow aggressive attack on our people again. We developed Lagos, we can’t be pushed away anymore in Lagos.

“MASSOB is also advising Ndigbo wherever they are to always be security conscious and to defend themselves. Why must Ndigbo be attack before, during and after elections in Nigeria.

“In 2015, Yorubas through their traditional ruler threatened our people that Igbo must vote for APC or they will be driven to lagoon and Yoruba leaders are keeping quiet over this tribal war against Ndigbo,” the group said.
