THE Household of God Church has perfected plans to host this year’s edition its annual GRACE program-me on December 16, 2018 according to the pastor of the Lagos-based church, Rev. Chris Okotie.
According to a statement by Ladi Ayodeji, GRACE is the acronym of God’s Ri-ches At Christ’s Expense.
During the event, four charities, Little Saints’ Orphanage, Spinal Cord Injuries Association, Sun-shine Foundation and the Pachelli School for the Blind and Partially Sight, trad-itionally receive N2 million each from the church.
The highlight of the GRACE event is the Karis award, given each year to a dist-inguished but unsung Nig-erian whose contribu-tions to society is not wi-dely recognized and the church uses the GRACE platform to celebrate such individual.
This year, the Karis award will go to Chief Reginald E.O Akpofure OFR, the first Nigerian principal of the famous King’s College, Lagos. Every year, GRACE which holds the Sunday before Christmas, attra-cts movers and shakers of society from all walks of life. Okotie expanded the GRACE vision with the introduction of Karis award in 1996, as an award to unsung heroes and heroines, whose con-tributions to society are not well appreciated in their generation.
Thus Karis, first given posthumously to famed mathematician, Chike Obi, has been awarded to other achievers across Nigeria the roll call of past awards reflects the nat-ion’s ethic, religious and gender diversities, with-out sacrificing merit.
