Pomp, glamour at GTB Fashion Weekend

It was another exciting weekend of fashion and fun as celebrities, fashion enthusiasts and style influencers stormed the GTB Fashion Weekend which held on the 10th and 11th of November at the GTCentre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The two-day fashion event saw designers from LaQuan Smith, Lanre Da Silva, Ji Won Choi, Taibo Bacar, IDMA-NOF, Gert Johan Coetzee showcase their new collection and had in attendance, Burak Cakmak, the dean of fashion at a school of design in New York.

The event featured fashion and entrepreneurial master classes facilitated by internationally renowned fashion experts such as Jay Manuel, Gucci’s Dapper Dan and shoe designer Nicholas Kirkwood.

Now in its third year, the GTB Fashion Weekend has become the premier event which places African fashion on the global stage and helps small businesses in the local fashion industry thrive.

With an overall vision of ‘Promoting Enterprise’, the weekend provided more than 130 small businesses with free stalls to showcase and sell the finest ensemble of apparels and fashion accessories. The pop-up stands gave budding indigenous designers a chance to display their works and interact with some of Africa’s most passionate fashionistas.
