Total StartUpper of the Year Challenge, the programme aimed at supporting entrepreneurial drive in young Nigerians is reaching its final registration lap. The Challenge, which involves several young Nigerian entrepreneurs entering into a competition for capital to boost their businesses as well as professional coaching, international exposure and widespread publicity, is open to Nigerians aged 35 years and below. Entrepreneurs who aspire to start their own businesses and build a brighter future for themselves and country are called on to showcase their ideas in a structured plan.
Candidates are required to visit the StartUpper Nigeria site to complete their registrations and submit, from where the best structured and innovative ideas will be shortlisted. The ten (10) best projects will be selected, with the finalists published on the competition website. The finalists will be required to defend their projects before a jury which will select the best three. In addition to the three winners, a top female entrepreneur will be selected. Results will be announced during an awards ceremony.
Participants’ projects/business plans will be assessed based on their innovativeness, social and community impact as well as their feasibility and development potential. This will be spearheaded by a jury of experts from Total, specialists from incubators and accelerators, business leaders and local community stakeholders.
The 2018-2019 StartUpper of the Year by Total Challenge reaffirms Total’s commitment to capacity building in the countries where it operates globally.
This year’s Challenge, which will hold in nearly 40 countries in Africa and 60 countries worldwide, is aimed at supporting and rewarding young entrepreneurs who have a project or business that is less than two years old.
