Lagos State Police Command has uncovered an apartment allegedly used as armory by suspected robbery gang and cultists in Ilasamaja area of Lagos.

Information at Vanguard’s disposal revealed that the Divisional Police Officer in-charge of Ilasamaja Division, Chief Superintendent Titlayo Oluwasanmi, had earlier met with traditional rulers and stakeholders in the community, on the need to avail the division of any information that would stem crimes in the area.

Following information from one of the residents that some suspected robbery gang/cultists hid their weapons inside an apartment in the community, Oluwasanmi  led a team of policemen to the building located on Moshalashi Street.

When a search was conducted round the building, the weapons comprising two brand new Berretta pistols and several rounds of ammunition, were discovered in an empty apartment in the building.

The weapons were wrapped in a cream-coloured hijab and tucked inside a brown bag.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Chike Oti, confirmed the discovery in a chat with Vanguard, yesterday.
