BENIN—AHEAD of the 2019 general election, a philanthropist, Mr. Clifford Inegbedion, has declared his intention to contest Esan West constituency seat in Edo State House of Assembly.
Inegbedion, who spoke at a rally at the council headquarters in Ekpoma yesterday, assured party faithful that he will abide by the decision of the elders and leaders of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and throw his full weight behind whoever wins the ticket should he lose out in the primaries.
The seat is presently occupied by Mr. Monday Ehighalua.
With the declaration, the architect-cum-politician is the sixth person who has indicated interest to fly the party’s flag in the forthcoming election in the state constituency.
He said: “I have given scholarships, bursaries, assisted the jobless, doled out interest-free loans and single-handedly renovated some roads with my personal money.
“You can imagine what I will do if given the opportunity to serve my people.”
