Kano Dep Gov alleges threat to life

By Abdulmumin Murtala

Kano—Deputy Governor of Kano State, Professor Hafiz Abubakar, has alleged threats to his life as well as plans to impeach him barely 24 hours after the impeachment of the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Yusuf Atta.

Professor Abubakar, in a petition addressed to the Kano State Police Commissioner, Rabiu Yusuf, copied Assistant Inspector-General, Zone One, and Department of State Services, DSS,  prayed for the deployment of more security operatives around him.

Among others, he accused the state government of disbursing funds to mobilise youths from the 44 councils of the state to protest his continued stay in office, without resigning or being impeached.

“My attention has been drawn to orchestrated plots to frame me on non-existing allegations to pave way for my impeachment,” the letter read.

“The state government was also alleged to have made funds available to the 44 councils to raise groups and organise a protest.”
