Journalist bags honorary doctorate

A honorary doctorate degree in Theology has been conferred on the Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of South-South International magazine, Ovie Edomi, by the Bishop Festus Theological University, Delta State.

According to a congratulatory letter by Bishop Festus Nteile, Presiding Bishop of Christ Freedom Embassy, Edomi, a journalist of over three decades, ignited the vision for the establishment of the institution which he said has produced great soldiers of God.

Reacting, Edomi, the immediate past President of League of Maritime Editors and Publishers, as well as the Publicity Secretary of the Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria, said he considers the honour as spiritually significant and important.

He said: “There are doctorate degrees in different fields. For me as an academics and a journalist, I know everyone of them is good. But this honour from a faith-based institution is very spiritual and significant.”
