ABAKALIKI—ALL Nigeria Ethnic Nationalities Youths Organisations, yesterday insisted that its support for Governors Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, David Umahi of Ebonyi State and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State was based on the need for equity and fairness in the political arena of the country.
The group which harped on the need for rotation of the governorship positions across senatorial zones of states added that the initiative would curb the menace associated with electioneering campaigns and proffer amicable solution to any form of political marginalisation.
In a statement issued in Abakaliki, Deputy National Chairman of the group, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro lauded Governor Ikpeazu for getting youths involved in Small Medium Enterprises, SMEs, which have provided means of livelihood for them in Abia State.
The statement read in part: “Nigeria Ethnic Nationalities Youths believe in equity and fairness in pursuant of political offices ahead of 2019. We understand that in Abia Charter of Equity, which is the foundation upon which Abia is created on August 27th in 1993; power rotates between Old Bende political bloc and Old Aba (Ukwa-Ngwa) bloc.
“We will support the Old Aba division to complete her 8years since Old Bende had 16years in Orji Kalu and Theodore Orji. Governor Ikpeazu has the support of Igbo youths.”
