SAPELE—LEADERS of Sapele community, Sapele Local Government Area, Delta State, have warned kidnappers, armed robbers, cultists and other criminals to steer clear of the area or they would be hunted and handed over to security agencies to face prosecution.
Deputy Commander, Vigilante of Nigeria, VGN, Mr. Asini Sunday, who spoke to newsmen in Sapele, after a joint meeting of security agencies and community leaders, said: “We were directed to tell the bad boys to stop their criminal activities or face the law if arrested. We have already made announcement throughout Sapele metropolis and adjoining villages.
“The information at our meeting, which was for the security people and community leaders, is to flush out all bad elements from the community. This action becomes necessary due to the prevailing crime rate in the local government area which was once very peaceful.
“Mr. Olokpa Harrison, Ovwore community president and Mr. Goddey Okpako, Amukpe district president in conjunction with the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, after a security meeting with the Duke of Amukpe, agreed that we should go round the community to announce to the bad boys in the area such as cultists, robbers, burglars, kidnappers to exit the community or face the wrath of security agents.”
He warned that anyone caught fighting with dangerous arms would be arrested and prosecuted in the law courts.
