DAMATURU – Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria , Yobe State Chapter, is set to capture the data of another 10,000 rice farmers in the state .The Chairman of the Association in Yobe State , Hon. Baba Gishiwari, disclosed this to Vanguard at the venue of the training of over 2,000 ad-hoc staff in Damaturu Thursday .
He stated that over 13,000 rice farmers in Yobe state had already benefited from the CBN / RIFAN anchor borrower scheme which provided equipments and insecticides worth over 200,000 naira to each farmer in the current raining season to boost the morale of farmers and enhance sufficient rice production in the state.
He however, said that the current biometrics to capture more farmers was to prepare in earnest for dry season farming , which will commence in three months time and accommodate more rice farmers in the state who specialised in rice farming .He said, “we have already captured the data of about 13,000 farmers and they have all received fertilizers, insecticides , herbicides and seeds for the raining season. What we are doing here today is to train 200 ad- hoc staff who will capture the data of over 10,000 irrigational farmers for the coming dry season .“
