Baru takes to podium on petroleum industry challenges at SPE Conference

The Group Managing Director of NNPC Dr. Maikanti Baru is billed to deliver a keynote address on “Alternative Funding Challenges in the Nigerian Petroleum Industry” at the fort coming Nigerian Society Of Petroleum Engineers( SPE) Conference and Oil and Gas Industry Awards in Lagos on the 6th  of August, 2018.

President of the SPE Nigerian Council Engineer Chikezie Nwosu who disclosed this during a courtesy call on the GMD by the executive members of the Council in Abuja said SPE, Nigeria Council /African Region has also deemed it fit to honour him with the African Regional Award in recognition of his excellent management of the oil and gas industry in Nigeria.

Engr. Nwosu said the award would be presented to him at the ceremony in Lagos.

He also commended NNPC staff who are members of the Society, saying their “technical contributions are of immense value to the industry, especially during our flagship events like our annual technical symposium”.

In his response, Dr. Baru expressed appreciation to the executive of the society for honouring him, adding SPE is what every industry practitioner would want to belong to.

He urged the executives to raise awareness of the uniqueness of the society whose membership is open to all industry practitioners irrespective of professional background. The GMD accepted the invitation and pledged the corporation’s support for the society.

The SPE executives were led on the visit by the Chairman, SPE Board of Trustees, Engr. Anddy Olotu.
