•Testimonies galore at RCCG 66th Convention
By Sam Eyoboka & Olayinka Latona
THE week long 66th convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, which started last Monday at the sprawling Redemption Camp on Kilometre 46 along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway will end today with hundreds of spectacular testimonies of God’s miraculous feat.
Before the programme, the General Overseer of the church, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, 76, had promised members of the church from different parts of the globe to invite their friends, relations, and even their enemies to endeavour to attend because the week would be a week to remember for a long time because of what God had promised to do at the event.
On a daily basis there were testimonies to justify that claim by the General Overseer and many participants especially those attending for the first time wondered why such high number of pregnant women were delivering their babies at the church’s maternity asking if the church was scheduling female members for such a period of the year so they can deliver at the camp. As at 4.00 p.m. on Friday a total of 81 babies had been delivered safely at the maternity without paying anything.
Several of the women travelled from different states of Nigeria while others in the surrounding included persons of different religions, not excluding Muslims who over the years preferred to use the RCCG facility whenever they are pregnant where they do ante-natal free of charge and some times get post natal gifts for their babies.
Leading the pack of testifiers at this year’s convention was the wife of the Chief of Defence Staff and president of Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), 55-year old Mrs. Omobolanle Olonisakin, mother of two wonderful children, Oluwatobiloba and Fiyinfolowa, who testified on behalf of her brother and his wife.
Mrs. Olorunisakin said God terminated 22 years barrenness from the life of her brother and his wife, saying: “My brother and his wife had been trusting God for a baby for over 22 years but nothing happened. During last year convention, Daddy made a prophetic declaration concerning those looking for the fruit of the womb that their joy would soon come. I keyed into it. I was mentioning my brother and wife’s name. Behold God has answered the prayer with triplets.” She came with an enlarged photograph of the brother, his wife and the two girls and one boy and the large crowd of worshippers rose, shouting in ecstacy.
Sister Amechi Florish from Port Harcourt declared that an anointed handkerchief restored dead sister-in-law back to life. According to her: “My sister-in-law asked me to come and stay with her for a night. While there, she was attacked spiritually. I could see her struggling for life and gasping for breadth and all efforts to revive her failed as she later died. While neighbours were crying I remembered the handkerchief that Daddy Adeboye blessed for us during one of the conventions which I kept inside my Bible.
I laid it on her body and called on God of Daddy Adeboye and behold she came back to life.
As if that was not enough, she started behaving like a mad person; pulling her clothes and I said God of Daddy Adeboye doesn’t do half miracles and I laid the handkerchief on her again and she was healed.
- Mummy G.O leads prayer for the nation
Wife of the General Overseer of RCCG, Pastor Folu Adeboye led participants including Acting President Yemi Osibanjo, two state governors, Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos and Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom, to pray for the peace, progress and restoration of Nigeria’s glory beginning with a prayer of repentance, against all forms of evil practices
The woman of God, who recently turned 70, lamented that sin and unrighteousness have hindered Nigeria from enjoying God’s mercy and blessings. “Sin has been a reproach to our nation, there is no fear of God any more. We allowed evil to dominate us and that is why we are eating like the prodigal son. We have suffered enough! Let us ask God to please forgive us,” she urged the crowd to intercede on behalf of the nation which has been so blessed by God.
Mummy G.O asked the worshippers not to relent in praying for leaders in power.
Obedience, key to comprehensive dominion—Adeboye
As the annual convention hits the fifth day, the General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye speaking on that Holy Ghost Service of the convention, described total obedience to God’s instruction as the key that will unlock doors to comprehensive dominion.
He assured the participants that it is absolutely possible for them to experience and have all round dominion, physically, financially and spiritually.
Speaking on the topic: ‘Dominion’, which is the theme of the spiritual gathering, Adeboye explained that it is God’s desire and commandment that man should have dominion, adding that any man that desires it, desires God’s will.
In his words: “It is possible for every true believer to have comprehensive dominion because God has made all necessary provision, we have been given dominion over all things created by God.”
Continuing, Adeboye who declared spiritual war against the menace of cancer the previous night, said sin of disobedience robbed man the creation blessing and that man can choose to be the head or tail, above or beneath, dominion or under yoke.
