…Says work, not walk is what Nigerians want

ABUJA-National Publicity Secretary of the Reformed All Progressives Congress (R-APC), Prince Kassim Afegbua has chided the Senior Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garbage Shehu for stating that the President is fit to seek another mandate after walking 800 metres from the Eid prayer ground to his Daura residence on Tuesday.
Afegbua who stated this Friday in a chat with Saturday Vanguard said work, not walk is why Nigerians voted for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015.
“Garba Shehu is beginning to ridicule the whole essence of governance and leadership content. Nigerians want President Buhari to work and not to walk. The mere fact that they have rolled out drums to celebrate so-called 800 metres walk shows that the idea was novel in the eyes of his aides, which also confirmed that the President is unfit to preside,” Afegbua said.
He also lauded the leadership style of Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo who acted as President while Buhari was away in London on vacation recently.
Just look at Professor Osinbajo’s leadership barely 15 days as Acting President. He was better off because he has capacity, but the cabal would not allow the him to play his role in the best of traditions. We need a physically fit, mentally solid, intellectually sound and healthy Nigerian to contend with the challenges of governance for a sickly country like Nigeria.
“If he (Buhari) were to be fit, they won’t be celebrating a normal routine of a walk after Eid prayers. How did they even conclude that it was 800 metres. Who measured the distance? If a president who just came back from a holiday can be so celebrated for a mere walk, then what happens when he doesn’t go for medical holiday?
“There is no point pretending about this. President Buhari is tired and not fit to lead this country any more. His age is one. His health is another. Those who are profiting from this present scenario wouldn’t want to hear anything like that. To them, it profits their selfishness in as much as the President is not fit to interrogate the processes of governance,” he added.
