Three men who allegedly robbed a pedestrian of her hand bag containing a mobile phone valued at N144,000 and N35,000 cash were on Monday arraigned in Lagos.
The accused: Yusuf Salami, 26, Lateef Bello,20, and Qudus Kareem,19, who reside at Mushin in Lagos State were brought before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
Salami, a motorcyclist; Kareem, a carpenter and Bello were charged with conspiracy and robbery.
The prosecutor, Insp. Raji Akeem, told the court that the offences were committed on Aug. 13 at Ilasamaja area of Lagos State.
Akeem said that the accused robbed a pedestrian, Mrs Kehinde Samuel, on her way from work.
“The complainant was on her way home from work when the accused stopped her and demanded for her hand bag.
“When she refused, they forcefully snatched it from her.
“As the accused were running away from the scene, the complainant shouted for help and the police on patrol pursued them,” he said.
Akeem said that the accused were later arrested.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 297 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused, however, entered a “not guilty” plea.
The chief magistrate, Mrs Jadesola Adeyemi-Ajayi, granted the accused to a bail of N50, 000 each with two sureties in like sum.
Adeyemi-Ajayi adjourned the case until Oct. 10. (NAN)
