Sapele Boys Club pays homage to Sally Young

ASABA — SAPELE  Boys Club, SBC, Delta State, has presented food items and an undisclosed sum of money to aging Urhobo music maestro, Mr. Daniel Iriferi, popularly known as Sally Young.

Speaking when he led members of SBC to pay homage to Sally Young at his Oria-Abraka residence, Ethiope East Local Government Area of the state, Chairman of the club, Mr. Chamberlain Akarue noted that one of the cardinal principles of the club was to recognise those who have distinguished themselves in sports, music, politics, business and other areas of human endeavours.

Describing Sally Young as one of those who popularized the Urhobo highlife music, he said: “Today we have singled out Sally Young, who is a music exponent. He started his life in Sapele and we are here to felicitate with him and wish him long life, good health and prosperity.”

Receiving the items on behalf of Sally Young, a member of his family, Mr. Sylvester Iriferi thanked members of the club for the gesture, saying the visit was the second of its kind in the last few weeks.
