ASABA— The Ijaw Youth Council, Ogbe-Ijoh  Warri Clan, Delta State, yesterday, condemned  an alleged  attack on the advance team of the wife of the  governor, Dame Judith Okowa.

Chairman, IYC Ogbe Ijoh, Mr Smart Okosu, in a statement, said the advance  team  comprising medical personnel and other support staff were attacked at  Aladja community, Udu Kingdom,  on Sunday by a group of Aladja people.

But the youth president of Udu Kingdom, Sunday Subi, when contacted by Vanguard, denied any attack by Aladja people on Mrs Okowa’s team.

He said: “Part of the antics of Ogbe Ijoh people when they want to attack Aladja is to lay such false allegation, which is  a diversionary ploy.”

However, Okosu, who insisted that Alafja people carried out the attack, called for the arrest of Aladja leaders behind it, saying: “The attack led to the destruction of cars conveying medical personnel and injury to some of the personnel.”

He named those who carried out the attack, adding: “It is unthinkable for members of any community within the state to attack the convoy of the wife of the governor of the state. In short, the attack on the convoy of the governor’s wife was an attack on the governor of Delta State.
