IT was fun for numerous athletes who turned up for the maiden edition of Lagos UIPM Laser Run City Tour 2018 which took place at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium Lagos.
The event which held on July 7th involved laser shooting and running. It was a promotional event meant to bring local population and school participants to the sport. The UIPM Laser Run City Tours consist of Laser shooting and running. The Shooting involves Laser pistol shooting in series at a range equipped with laser targets. Each series of shooting is followed by running set targets.
The Laser Run competition divisions are divided into elite and Open divisions. The elite division consists of athletes representing the national federations while the open division is made up of athletes who are not representing the federation and are competing on their own, as individuals.
President of Nigeria Modern Pentathlon, Jonathan Nnaji said over 50 athletes participated in the open category while over 200 school children from private and public schools and administrators from the five disciplines of modern Pentathlon sports also took part in the fiesta.
Nnaji said, “we are grateful to the Nigeria Olympic Committee for its contributions to the development of the sport and wish to call on corporate bodies and well meaning Nigerians to partner with us and provide the much needed financial muscle that will enable us host a a remarkable championship next time.”
