A driver, who broke into his former boss’ apartment in Omole Estate, dispossessing him of valuables and allegedly attempted to rape his wife, has said he was on a revenge mission.
The suspect, Solomon James, who was arrested by operatives from the Lagos State Police Command, while fleeing the scene, claimed his former boss, Utchay Odims, terminated his appointment without paying him for several months.
The gun-wielding suspect stormed his former boss’ apartment on Ademola Ajasa Street, weekend, where he tied a female house-help. Thereafter, he ordered his former boss to lie faced down and tied his hands, threatening to snuff life out of him if he did not cooperate.
He allegedly ransacked the apartment and in the process, demanded to see his former boss’ wife, as he dangled a packet of condom.
Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police Command, who confirmed the arrest, said “the suspect demanded the complainant’s ATM card. He tried to transfer money with the ATM card but he could not due to network failure. The suspect became aggressive and asked the victim to surrender his car key and the original car documents which he did.
“The suspect who also armed with a Gold-Circle condom asked persistently for the victim’s wife, who was unavailable at that time. He succeeded in robbing the victim of N38,000 and car key, including the ATM card.”
Vanguard gathered that as the suspect made to drive off from the premises, he sighted the police and scaled the fence, from where he was apprehended.
When he was unmasked, the suspect was discovered to be the victim’s former driver whose appointment was terminated two months ago.
During interrogation, the suspect said: “I went there alone to collect the money he owed me while I was working for him. He treated me badly especially his wife. As if that was not enough, he asked me to leave without paying me for several months.
“I did not intend to rape his wife. I only asked to see her. The condom found on him had also been in my pocket for use whenever I desired.“
