Gambari, others to speak at 10th Wole Soyinka Centre Lecture

LAGOS—DIRECTOR- General of the Consumer Protection Council, CPC, Mr. Babatunde Irukera has attributed series of criminal activities across the country on a negative mindset among the youths.

He regretted the prominence attached to criminal activities in the country, noting that never in Nigeria’s history were fraud and other forms of criminal activities celebrated as they are being celebrated today.

Irukera, who spoke at the maiden edition of Progressive Minds Forum, PMF, in Lagos, urged youths to explore their talents in the best possible ways rather than blame all the problems on the environment.

His words: “Never in our history have frauds or any form of criminal activities celebrated as they are being celebrated today. It is no longer a secret that the preponderance of Nigerian youths think that the quickest and easiest route to wealth is the infamous ‘yahooyahoo.’

“We discovered that the myriad challenges facing the country today began with a negative mindset that people have from the young age and the only way to tackle these problems is from the root cause hence the training of youths towards positive mindset.”

Irukera said that the forum which comprises a group of professionals will engage 5,000 youths on positive mindset and leadership skill.
