No fewer than 15,000 children displaced by the herdsmen crisis in Benue state who are down with various ailments including malaria, malnutrition and diarrhea are to benefit from a free medical outreach organized by the Nexia Nigeria a global corporate support service organization.

Flagging off the outreach at the Abagena Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, camp in the outskirt of Makurdi, the Managing Partner of the organization, Mr. Abel Onyeke said the two day outreach with the theme ‘Closer to You’ was in commemoration of the annual Nexia day celebrations.

The Managing Partner who was represented by his Manager, Mrs. Gloria Akpata said the apart from the medical outreach, organization would also provided food items and educational materials for the displaced children.

Explaining further Onyeke said, “this year we brought the annual event to Benue state in view of the IDP situation in the state and particularly the health and hygiene condition of children in the camps who need all the support they can get.

“Apart from Abagena we are also taking the outreach to Agatu where victims of the crisis also abound. We are supporting over 15,000 children this year.

“So we came in with our Doctors, Pharmacists and Nurses to carry out the medical observations and also dispense drugs which we brought in large number for use in the camps even after the outreach because there are also resident Doctors and Nurses in the camps.”

Onyeke said the essence of this intervention was to lend a helping hand to the needy, to get the organization closer to the society in line with its corporate social responsibilities.

“We urge all well meaning organizations and individuals to come to the aid of these children because from our medical observations so far many of them are down with malaria, diarrhea and malnutrition,” he added.
