CALABAR—Isaiah Idoko-Akoh, Chairman, Investment and Securities Tribunal, IST, has called on the people of the South-South region to urgently key into the opportunities provided by the capital market as it was the engine room of any modern economy.
He also said that the apathy on the part of Nigerians to Capital Market had given rise and credence to the growth of wonder banks, ponzi schemes and multiplication of fraudsters in the zone due to shortage of market operators in such locations.
Idoko-Akoh disclosed this, yesterday in Calabar, Cross River State, at a three-day Public Enlightenment Workshop for state, federal and Appeal Court judges and capital market investors in Cross River and Akwa Ibom states.
Idoko-Akoh said: “No state can afford to remain a fringe player in the capital market industry considering the fact that the market is considered to be the engine room of any modern economy.”
