ASABA—ASSOCIATION of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, yesterday, said it would mobilise against the Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, if local government areas do not get their allocations from the Federation Accounts and Allocation Committee, FAAC, in one week.
Delta State Chairman of ALGON, Mr Itiako Ikpokpo, in a statement, said the local governments have had enough from the Finance Minister.
He said: “This is the height of incompetence and everybody is keeping quiet. How can we continue to disrespect the constitution and we, as a country we kept quiet. We at the local government level can no longer tolerate the insensitivity being displayed by Minister of Finance.
“If the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, has not remitted, they know what to do. Today (yesterday) is 19 and we have still not been paid. What kind of country are we in?”
Urging the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives to call the Finance Minister for questioning, Ikpokpo said, “The National Assembly should ask her for our money.”
