Alhaji Moshood Adeoti has resigned as the Secretary to the Osun State Government, SSG.
He also resigned from the ruling APC and immediately crossed over to the Action Democratic Party, ADP, where he partook in the primary and emerged as the party’s candidate.
Alhaji Adeoti dumped the APC shortly after the APC primary on the claim that the leadership of the party, at both the state and national levels, manipulated the primary to favour a preferred candidate.
At the Congress held at the ADP secretariat at Biket area, Osogbo, several members of the ruling APC thronged the venue to witness the declaration of Adeoti as the party’s candidate.
The ADP Electoral Committee Chairman, Mr Dozie Ike, urged all members of the party to support Adeoti to win the election.
Also speaking, the Secretary of the electoral committee, Mrs Lynn Olisa, said 13, 400 party members were accredited for the primary, while 13,367 voted.
Olisa said Adeoti, the only aspirant for the party, scored 13,324 votes, adding that 43 votes were voided.
Alhaji Adeoti, had earlier written a letter to APC ward chairman in Iwo to announce his resignation from the party having withdrawn from the APC’s direct method of primary election on the allegation that the exercise was skewed to favour Oyetola.
In his acceptance speech, the former SSG urged the party members to support him in winning the Sept. 22 governorship election in the state.
Adeoti said he was committed to executing the ADP ideals as contained in its manifestoes to the letter.
