2019: NGO urges CSOs to shun monetary inducement from politicians

By Peter Okutu

ABAKALIKI—A non-governmental Organization, NGO, International Republican Institute, IRI, funded by United States Agency for International Development, USAID, for the development of political parties in Nigeria, yesterday called on Civil Society Organizations, CSOs to shun every form of monetary inducement from politicians during the 2019 general elections.

Speaking during a one day programme titled “Ebonyi Civil Society-based Advocacy Initiatives” organized by the group for representatives of various CSOs in the state at Monablis Hotel, Abakaliki, the Programme Officer of IRI, Mr.  Sunday  Alao urged the CSOs not to sacrifice political neutrality on the platform of selfish interests as such behaviour would make political parties not be interested in their work or inputs in the course of the election.

Alao called on them to “develop creative ideas on how to be economically independent.”
