ENUGU—COALITION of pro-Biafran groups, including the Movement for Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, has sworn to unmask those behind Sunday bombing of the house of the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo.
In their monthly meeting in Enugu, the over 18 groups frowned at the attack which they described as a threat against Igbos and an insult to Igbo nation.
They said: “The bombing of the house of Chief Nnia Nwodo, President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo can never be treated with kid gloves. We shall unravel the terrorist attackers.”
The coalition warned against a repeat of any such attacks, noting that they had unanimously resolved to swing into action to ensure that such incident was never repeated.
Spokesman of the coalition and MASSOB leader, Comrade Uchenna Madu equally enjoined the people of Biafra to be security conscious in the protection of their lives and property.
Not happy with Trump
On President of United States’, Donald Trump’s recent meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, the group said the people of Biafra were disturbed by the “unholy romance between Nigeria’s president and his US counterpart.”
The group said it was annoyed that “in the face of so many cases of ethnic cleansing against Biafrans by the Buhari administration, the people of Biafra had expected that the United States President upon meeting with Buhari would take a position against these attacks.
“Though we expect some high level of diplomacy on Biafra issues, 50 percent of Biafrans are disappointed on President Trump of US.
“Let it be on record that the Biafrans are not amused at the lackadaisical manner which a Biafran issue was thrown under the carpet.Biafrans would want the United Nations to know that the suppression, killing, maiming and jailing of our people by the Nigerian military has not stopped. They must stop playing politics with our future and existence,” they said.
The coalition also announced that the 2018 Biafra day celebration holds May 30th.
They unanimously agreed to jointly observe, commemorate and celebrate the 51 years anniversary of Biafra declaration by late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu in 1967.
“There will be a candle light procession on the night of 29th May. The people of Biafra all over the world are enjoined to observe the candle night prayers in their respective homes if they cannot participate in the holy procession.”
Attack on Nwodo handiwork of faceless detractors— Ndigboamaka
In a related development, Ndigboamaka Progressive Association of Nigeria, the umbrella body of all major market associations and Igbo professionals and groups in Lagos, has condemned in its entirety the recent attempt on the life of the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo.
In a statement signed by the National Coordinator of Ndigboamaka, Nze Basil Ezeomenyiliora, the association said that the bomb attack was the handiwork of faceless and heartless detractors who have failed woefully in their evil and devilish act.
The umbrella body said that they were solidly behind the leadership of Chief Nwodo which they said had given Ndigbo a great hope of survival in an otherwise hostile and belligerent nation.
The association commended what it called the deft handling by Ohanaeze Ndigbo of the Ohanaeze Lagos Chapter election, that enshrined Chief Solomon Ogbonna as President on the 21st of April,2018.
