BENIN CITY- A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Chief Otegar Emerhor has said that the emergence of the former Governor of Edo state, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as the next national chairman of the party in the June 2 National Convention of the party, will be the end of the reign of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta state.
Chief Emerhor who described Oshiomhole as a formidable candidate for the job, disclosed that the PDP in Delta state was jittery since it became clear that Oshiomhole will emerge as the next national chairman of the APC.
According to him, “ Oshiomhole is trusted and tested politician with a very high credibility. We are confident that his leadership will bring success for Delta APC and let me tell you Comrade has been my benefactor since the formation of APC, don’t forget APC was registered in July 2013 and I was the first senatorial candidate because of the death of Senator Pius Ewerido.
“He (Oshiomhole) was in Delta state and he campaigned for me. We are all going to work with him and give him the desired support to succeed. And with his coming, the PDP should forget Delta state come 2019 because we are going to present a formidable candidate and campaign vigorously with Oshiomhole to ensure success” he declared.
He further dismissed the claim that the division in the state APC was going to affect the fortunes of the party ahead of the election saying that “what we see today is a health contestation and at the end of the day we all will come back and work together for our candidates. Our common enemy is the PDP. Their poor performance in Edo state is very glaring and that is why we are going to defeat them.
“Delta state cannot remain in opposition when we have a Federal Government and that is our message to our people. Nothing is happening in Delta state under the PDP led administration and we are very confident that Delta state will go APC in the next election” he stated.
