—The expected arraignment of the former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Jonah Jang, by  Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC,  in a High Court in Jos,Monday, had been adjourned to Wednesday.

Jang, who is the Senator representing Plateau North Senatorial zone in the National Assembly has been held by the EFCC since last Monday over alleged embezzlement of N6.3 bilion and was to be arraigned yesterday.

But lead counsel to the EFCC, Rotimi Jacob (SAN), had filed a motion seeking an adjournment to tomorrow to allow the EFCC complete all the logistics for the arraignment.

Presiding judge, Justice Daniel Longji of Jos High Court 5 granted the reliefs sought and counsel to the accused, Robert Clarke, did not object to the adjournment.

Meanwhile, hundreds of security personnel, including the Police, Department of State Services, DSS, and National Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, were strategically positioned to secure the court as youths for and against the arrest and arraignment of the Senator besieged the court premises and adjoining streets with banners and placards stating their positions.

A group under the aegis of the Jang Support Group described the exercise as “Jungle Justice,” quering why the Senator was detained for a week, when he has been faithful in honouring all invitations by the EFCC.

Another group with placards with the inscriptions, “Jang pls return Plateau State N3 billion, SUBEB funds, bring back our AMCON funds, where is our N2 billion CBN /SME funds you collected, EFCC is doing a great Job” hailed the arraignment, saying EFCC should be commended.
