THE Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr Mohammed Danmallam, has called for the co-operation of all residents in the state in order to build a vibrant and result-oriented community-policing framework.
Danmallam said this at a Community Safety Partnership Meeting with residents of Enugu metropolis at the Central Police Station, Enugu yesterday.
The meeting was organised by Enugu State Police Command in partnership with the Nigeria Policing Programme (NPP).
The commissioner represented by Assistant Commissioner of Police in-charge of Finance and Administration, Mr Oliver Amechi, emphasised on the need for a well-built and effective community safety partnership.
Danmallam, who drew lessons from Isokoko Division in Lagos State where community policing operated when he was the Divisional Police Officer, maintained that community safety partnership involved all relevant stakeholders.
“A good and vibrant community-policing framework also involves police personnel working in synergy with other sister security agencies,” he said.
Earlier, the chairman of Enugu North Local Government Area, Chief Emma Onoh, thanked the command for its continuous effort towards actualising safety and security of the environment.
