ASABA—DELTA State Government has told contractors handling road projects expected to be completed by the end of this May to deliver on schedule, insisting that the state government was determined to deliver good roads to all Deltans.
The state Commissioner for Works, Chief James Augoye who stated this during an inspection tour of Ekwuoma/ Owere/ Olubor Road in Ika North- East and Ushie Township roads in Ndokwa East Local Government Areas of the state, said Governor Ifeanyi Okowa would soon commence another phase of road commissioning.
Saying that the essence of the call on the contractors was to ensure that road projects were completed as and when due, Augoye said that the Okowa administration was out to open up the rural areas to boost agricultural, economic and social lives of the people through road constructions.
Urging the contractors not to breach their part of the agreement, he said government had done its part.
On the actions taken by the Okowa administration to continue work on the Asaba/Ughelli dualisation project awarded by the past administration, he said: “Concentration is on the Iyede and Ozoro axis of the road for now.
“Once that one is completed, work will begin on the whole stretch in earnest with a correction to the design of the section ‘C’ portion.”
