APC youths lock Port Harcourt High Court

PORT HARCOURT – YOUTHS believed to be from a faction of the Rivers state All Progressives Congress, APC, have shut the State Judicial Complex, Port Harcourt, locking the High Courts under the watch of the Nigerian Police to allegedly prevent ruling on a motion aiming to restrain Saturday’s Local Government (LG) Congress of the party.

Already, some persons have been brutalised by the irate youths with a litigants at the Port Harcourt High Court to hear his case who had his head bloodied from a mob attack.

A lawyer, Wori N Wori, told Vanguard in the unfolding melee that he was at the court yesterday and witness the motion for an injunction filed by aggrieved APC members to stop Saturday’s Ward Congress and that it was in an attempt to arrest the ruling on the motion today that has resulted in the defendants faction’s locking the courts.

Denying Wori’s comments, an APC chieftain, Nancy Stephens Ijokpor, said they party was not aware of any case against it and that the faces who locked the courts were not APC’s.

At the time of filing this report, a gang of alleged People’s Democratic Party youths had moved in and broken the locks on the court complex, resulting in sporadic shooting as an open gun duel looms.
