NOA takes campaign against thuggery to Imo oil communities

OWERRI—THE National Orientation Agency, NOA, Imo State chapter, Wednesday, warned that governance in the country, was threatened as a result of political thuggery during elections.

The team of the NOA, led by the Deputy Director of Operation, Mr. Innocent Iwuchukwu, made this statement  at Akabor community in Oguta Local Government Area of the state, during a one-day security and political sensitisation programme against thuggery, drug addiction and kidnapping.

According to Iwuchukwu, “It is sad to note that certain vices have taken the centre stage of our national life particularly on our youths that our quest for a glorious and prosperous future is threatened. Some of these vices include political thuggery, kidnapping and drug abuse/addiction.

“We are in Akabor, Oguta, to appeal to everybody to join in the fight against these vices to avoid drowning our dear nation, as politics will come and go and we are still alive.”

In his remarks, the President General of Akabor community, Nicholas Mba, thanked the NOA for its message and promised to continue the sensitisation before, during and after the elections in order to inculcate in the younger generation what they were  expected to do in an election.
