Nkanga, ex-A’Ibom gov takes over PANDEF leadership

ASABA—AFTER several months of intrigues, former Military Administrator of Akwa Ibom State, Air Commodore Idongesit Nkanga (retd), has taken over as National Chairman of  Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, an umbrella body of the people of the South-South geo-political zone.

Nkanga, in a statement, yesterday, confirmed  that the National Executive Council, NEC, was inaugurated by the National Leader of PANDEF, Chief Edwin Clark.

Chief Francis Doukpola from Bayelsa State  is the new deputy national chairman, Dr. Alfred Mulade,  National Secretary,  Kenneth Robinson, Assistant National Secretary, Agbiji M Agbiji, National Financial Secretary,  Charles Harry, National Treasurer, His Highness Anabs Sarea-Igbe, National Publicity Secretary/PRO and Mrs. Nella Andem-Rabana, SAN, National Legal Adviser.

Others  are Chief Johnson Ossai Opone, National Auditor, Efosa Aguebor, National Organising Secretary, Dr. Emmanuel Akpanobong, Assistant National Organising Secretary, Chief Bett Igbeyi, National Women leader, Mrs. Vivien Ere-Imangagha, Assistant National Women Leader,  Famous Daunemigha, National Youth Leader and Olorogun Vincent Oyibode, Assistant National Youth Leader.

The new national chairman clarified that the last mega rally by PANDEF  in Bayelsa State was non-partisan contrary to the “false, malicious and jaundiced reports and statements circulated in a section of the media.”

He said: “It was positively cross-cultural as it attracted delegates from the six states,  which comprise the South-South geo-political Zone, including Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Rivers and Bayelsa, the host state.

“The mega rally also attracted dignitaries from the South-West geo-political zone,  led by elder statesman Chief Ayo Adebanjo and others in his entourage, including Chief Olu Falae, former Secretary to Government of the Federation;  Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, former Governor of Ondo State, Senator Femi Okurounmu, Prof. Banji Akintoye, Chief Supo Shonibare, Mrs Tokunbo Ekukinam and Mr.Yinka Odumakin.”
