NATIONAL Association of Delta State Students (NADESSTU), has said that the Hon. Prince Ned Nwoko’s Sports Technology, Art and Sciences University (STARS), Idumuje-Ugboko is a blessing to Delta State and Africa.
In a statement, the National President of NADESSTU, Comrade Agolo Samson, noted that over the years, Delta State has become famous and has continued to lead the comity of states across the country in its quest to advance the course of education.
The statement read in part : ” The STARS university, when completed would not only afford athletes and students the opportunity to pursue their academic careers, it would also reduce the high rate of unemployment in the country. Also, the establishment of the university would engage, inspire and motivate students to stay active and reach their zenith in sports, fitness and cerebral development.
” As the apex students body in Delta State, one which is committed to the development of education and positive engagement of Delta State students and youths, we hereby declare our unflinching support and unwavering solidarity for the establishment of the STARS University. In addition, the state-of-the-art facilities would be home to all sport loving students from across Nigeria and Africa as this would put Delta State and Nigeria on the international scene in terms of education and sports development.
” We, therefore, call on all well-meaning Deltans, community rulers, youths and students to not only support this record breaking project but to take up the responsibility of ensuring its speedy completion, safety and security of lives, workforce and property.”
While commending the founder of STARS university, Hon. Prince Ned Nwoko, for his insight to the challenges facing Delta State students and finding a lasting solution to it, Agolo recalled with nostalgia how he (Ned Nwoko) advocated and fought for the Paris refund, one that has contributed immensely towards revamping the Nigerian economy.
The NADESSTU president, therefore, called on well-meaning Deltans and Nigerians to emulate Nwoko’s philanthropic gesture by investing and bringing long lasting development to Deltans and Nigeria.
